This page is where we pay homage to some of the great drummers past and
present that have played and/or endorsed Ludwig drums. If you know of
someone that should be on this page then send me an email (claytaylorgreene@ludwigdrummer.com).

| Ringo Starr - what can I tell you that you don't already
know! Ringo is currently listed with Ludwig on their Drummer's
page. For many years he played Ludwig drums but was never an
official endorser. He currently has been touring with 'Ringo
and the
All Stars'.

| Alan White - most known
for his incredible work with 'Yes'.
Alan was also the drummer on John Lennon's 'Imagine'
and George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass'. Check out his
discography and you will be amazed! Alan is currently an
endorser. He has played Ludwig for many years.

| Buddy Rich - though
Buddy changed drum companies more often than some people change their
clothes, he played Ludwig during a couple of periods in his career.
Buddy was known as a hard man to please at most of the drum companies that
he endorsed. At Rogers, the story is told of his quest for the
perfect snare drum.. One day, they finally delivered a prototype
Dynasonic to him that had the exact sound that he had been searching
for...the perfect snare drum! It was stolen that night and the
company could never make another one that sounded as good. |
 |
| John
Bonham - famed drummer for Led Zeppelin. John always favored
oversized drums playing on a 26 inch bass drum and 6.5 inch snare.
Here he is with those equally famous amber Vistalites. Click

| Joe Morello
- played with Dave Brubeck, Marian McPartland, Art Pepper, Louis
Armstrong, Herbie Mann, John Scofield, Gary Burton and many others.
Joe was a featured drummer in many Ludwig catalogs, flyers, and 'The
Ludwig Drummer' magazine during the 60's. He was a Ludwig endorser
and clinician for many years. Joe continues to play with his own
band as well as Marian McPartland around the jazz clubs of NY and NJ
today. He can be seen on many a drum video too. I don't think
anyone ever looked as cool behind a set of silver sparkles as Joe in this
picture taken from the 1964 Ludwig catalog. |
 |
| Neil Peart - fantastic drummer from Rush. Neil played
Ludwig drums during the period when some of their best work was done. Of
course, this guy would sound great playing tupperware! |
 |
Ed
Thigpen - played with Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown,
Clark Terry, Herbie Hancock, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Count
Basie to name a few. Ed was featured as an endorser in several
Ludwig catalogs during the 60s.
|
 |
| Alex Van Halen of
Van Halen fame. Alex has played
Ludwig for many years and continues to be an endorser. |
 |
| Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick Still
an endorser
also. This image is from an endorser poster. Posters of all
the Ludwig endorsers are available on their website.

Ginger
Baker of Cream, Blind Faith, Eric Clapton,
Peter Frampton, Ringo Starr and Masters of reality. Ginger was a
Ludwig endorser for many years.
|
 |
| Ed
Shaughnessy - long time drummer of the Tonight Show and Ludwig
endorser to this day. |
 |
| Ian Paice of
Deep Purple. Who can
forget Machine Head, My Woman from Tokyo, and Smoke on
the Water. Deep Purple has been touring recently too.
Check out their website for details. |
 |
| Carlos Guzman - former drummer for The
Lettermen from the late 70's to the early 80s. Carlos was a
Ludwig endorser during those same years. Carlos now manages some of
the top drummers in the industry while still remaining active as a drummer
himself. Carlos can be reached via email at LOS2655@aol.com. |
 |
| Mike Gibbins of Badfinger.
Badfinger was the first group to be signed to The Beatles' Apple
records. Who can forget 'Day After Day' and 'Baby Blue' just to name
a couple. Great band from the late 60s/early 70s. The 'Very
Best of Bandfinger' was released late in 2001 and VH1 has completed an
episode of 'Behind the Music' on Badfinger. |
 |
| Mike DeRosier of Heart.
Remember Dreamboat Annie, Dog and Butterfly, Barracuda, Magic
Man.

| Frankie Banali of Quiet
Riot
'Metal Health' turns 20 this year but the boys of Quiet Riot are still
rockin'. Frankie is a long time Ludwig player and endorser.
His Ludwig kits include both a yellow and a red Vistalite kit, a green
sparkle, a stainless steel and the kit in this picture amoung
others. Most are in Bonham sizes...one of Frankie's main influences.

| Karen Carpenter of
'The Carpenters'
Karen always played Ludwig drums. Here she is shown with her
clear Vistalite kit and a Supraphonic 400 snare. Karen also had one
of the most beautiful voices ever recorded...in case you didn't know!
