I began drumming in 1960 and went on to become and Instrumental Music Director. Having raised my family and long since removed from the band room, I am fortunate in that I am able to now enjoy the best of both worlds. I play my drums with the Des Moines community Jazz Center Big Band and rehearse/direct the High Society Big Band.

The drums are sized as: 9x13 small tom; 16x16 floor tom; 16x20 bass drum and 5 1/2x14 Supra-Phonic 400 snare drum. Speed King pedal is still in use. Even though I have the original Ludwig cymbal stands I have updated to Tama double braced hardware. The snare drum stand is original. In place of the standard rail mount Tom-tom holder is a Rogers Swiv-O-Matic holder from 1964. Several years later, I added the 16x18 floor tom to complete the outfit.  I continue to play these drums with two Big Bands in my local area. The drums are in as good a condition as I have been able to maintain them. All cymbals are Avedjis Zildjian except for the secondary ride which is a 20" KConstantinople Lt. Ride.
